Welcome back to our Team Flippy Spotlight series, where we shed light on the individuals who make our community so extraordinary. Today, we're thrilled to introduce you to another ambassador, who's as passionate about the game as he is about the friendships and memories it fosters. Let’s embark on a journey through fairways and forests with our talented player from St. Louis.

How did you first get introduced to disc golf, and what was it about the game that captivated you? Feel free to share something unique about your life and connect it to Disc Golf.

Eric: I first played before I had left for college with some friends. Then my super senior year of college our college built a course on the property so a couple of us went and played it. Since then it’s been nothing but purely addicting fun.

Share your favorite disc golf course that you’ve played and a favorite course that you’d still love to visit.

Eric: My favorite is most people’s least favorite. It’s the bunker in St. Louis. Our most difficult course through eagles crossing is a close second. My dream is to one day play maple hill!

For newcomers to disc golf, what's one technical tip or aspect of play you think is undervalued but can make a big difference in their game?

Eric: I think my biggest tip I tell people is nothing over a 10 speed the amount of things I could have learned with 9 speeds and below would have helped my game so much. I also suggest just going out and playing all the time.

Can you recall a particularly challenging course or hole that you've played and how you navigated it? What made it stand out?

Eric: Hole 17 at Kennel Lake at Ledgestone this year was a doozy. The quickest way to the pin is with two water carry shots that basically get you into the area to make a great putt. Had to trust my ability to keep discs on the line there intended.

Disc golfers often have a favorite disc in their bag. Which is yours, and why does it hold that special place for you?

Eric: The terminal velocity Ursus is my most trusted disc in my bag. It is a very stable mid that gaps the zone and firebird for me. It has taught me a lot of fun angles and the ability to throw easy hyzer from 250-325.

Disc golf, like many sports, has a community aspect to it. Can you share a memorable moment or story that stemmed from your involvement with the Flippy Disc Golf community?

Eric: I loved meeting new people at Ledgestone. Chatted with two different team members while I was there.

How do you prepare for a big tournament or match? Are there any specific routines, mental exercises, or physical training regimens you follow?

Eric: For me I like to stretch and warmup before every round. I have found as I have gotten better that shot routine is the biggest thing. Doing the exact same thing before every shot helps a ton.

Are there any disc golfers or athletes in general who have inspired your journey or whom you look up to? Why?

Eric: Eric Oakley is the man. He is very open, honest, and humble. He went from a person who they wanted to be a personality only to a top 50 player this year.

With the growth and evolution of disc golf, where do you see the sport in the next 5-10 years? And what role do you think platforms like Flippy Disc Golf will play in the future?

Eric: I think the biggest thing is to continue to work with communities to grow what we have. There is so much land and money being used for disc golf. If we can refocus our efforts that would be the best!

Outside of the technical aspects, what's the most valuable life lesson disc golf has taught you?

Eric: Keep your friends close but your enemies closer.

What’s the very worst score you’ve ever recorded, and on what hole?

I think 10 and Arnold hole 3. You can only go out of bounds so many times!

From choosing the right discs to discovering life's quirks, our ambassadors are here to remind us that disc golf isn't just a game; it's a tight-knit community, an all-out passion, and a bunch of unforgettable moments.
